This is an important Celtic fire festival so we plan to have a fire and dance outside in the sacred circle. Bring a flashlight and what ever else you need to be comfortable outside. The dance circle is carpeted with a soft, layer of sand.

This class is some of the deepest work that Imam Bilal teaches, in-depth work, both for those who can come in person and those at a distance. There is prereading, and re-reading, for each class, and there may be some written work as well. If you are just joining the class, listening to recordings of previous sessions is strongly recommended. We are studying Ibn al Arabi's Fusus al Hikam, in Caner Dagli's translation, "The Ringstones of Wisdom." We are on page xxiv of the translator's introduction, going slowly as we attempt to fully grasp the material. The translator's introduction is aimed at understanding the first paragraph of the Word of Adam, which summarizes the whole book, much as Surah Fatihah summarizes the Qur'an. The focus continues to be on the ways in which Allah knows and understands Himself, and where we may participate in that knowing.

These four classes will be $150, with some scholarships available for those who need them. Donations towards a scholarship fund gratefully accepted. This workshop with be on healing through forgiveness. Imam Bilal will help us explore deeper into the roots and the reasons to work with the divine names of Forgiveness, going deeper into the Physicians of the Heart. The focus will be the Names covered in "The Family of Divine Forgiveness," and ways to embody these Names in daily life. "The subject of forgiveness, and what forgiveness means to human beings, immediately brings up the issue of our sense of self-worth. This is a crux psychological issue, which is important to find a way to approach effectively. By examining the cluster of divine Names that comprise the forgiveness family, we have a unique opportunity to address crippling human problems such as self-loathing, guilt, and shame." (p. 125, Physicians of the Heart)

The Beautiful Names of Allah are a pharmacopeia for healing on all levels. Each Divine Name needs to be recognized as a doorway to the Healing Presence, the ultimate goal, the Source. Through the specific Names we gain access to healing for specific maladies. These Names come from a Quranic source, with a context. Each Name can be applied in a variety of ways, not just repeated a set number of times. Imam Bilal hopes to present alternative methods for healing with the Divine Names in this workshop.

Imam Bilal Hyde is one of the authors of Physicians of the Heart, an expert on the etymology of the Names and the grammatical implication of their structure. He has been teaching students in the U.S. for over 30 years, after studying and living in the Sudan and Mecca. In the Sudan he learned many alternative methods of "applying" the Names. As an American-born Muslim, now an Imam, and a traveler in the way of Sufism, now a Murshid, he has a deep rapport with a wide range of students, making complex materials accessible and understandable, and with a wonderful sense of humor.

Rejuvenate your spirit and open your heart with sacred circle dancing and
joyous group singing honoring the world's mystical traditions. No previous
experience is necessary to experience this joyous experience.

Morris St. is one stop light east of Hwy 116 (across from Bradley Video),
north off of Hwy 12 by the row of palm trees. Go one long block along this
industrial street and just past the community center where the road bends
left, the Youth Annex is on the right with a green roof.

Explore the Laguna Wetlands Nature Preserve that surrounds us, walk the
labyrinth just outside the Youth Annex, and visit the Farmer's Market the
Plaza before or after our meeting. Come dance and sing with us.

For the benefit of all who come to the Dances, please refrain from using or
wearing fragrances.
