A Celebration for All Saint's Weekend

The Numina Center for Spirituality and the Arts and St. Paul's Episcopal Church, San Rafael present two performances of Music from the Time of Saint Francis on November 1 (All Souls' Day) and November 2 (All Saints' Day).

St. Francis of Assisi was a troubadour and perpetual pilgrim. This event will celebrate the music that surrounded him --- songs and dances of 12th century France, Italy, and Spain. St. Francis directed a spiritual community in Tuscany that gathered an extraordinary body of liturgical and celebratory music, the Lauda Cortona, which will be the focus of this musical offering.

Featured artists include the early music vocal ensembles Vox Flores and Vox Terrae, singers Devi Mathieu and Pablo Rodriguez, and virtuoso musicians Shira Kammen and Tim Rayborn singing and playing a variety of period instruments, including vielle, harp, lute, psaltery, and drums.

Cultural historian Kayleen Asbo will present a preconcert lecture and slide show on the music of St. Francis and his time. A candlelit labyrinth walk will follow the concert.

Admission: General Admission $20, Preferred Seating $25

This is a rare opportunity for small group study of the Sufi tradition of dream interpretation with Imam Bilal. The practice of the Prophet Muhammad (s.a.w.s.) was, after the Fajr dawn prayers, to ask his Companions (r.a.) to tell their dreams for interpretation. This intensive Dream Interpretation Workshop will draw on principles from Hadith and from the traditions of the Knowers and Friends of God.

PIR SHABDA'S FAIRFAX ZIKR CIRCLE WILL MEET ONCE A MONTH THIS FALL

Pir Shabda Kahn is a Sufi teacher and leader of the Sufi Ruhaniat International. He is a master of the music of India and the West, and a master of the tuning of the heart.

At these monthly events Shabda and friends lead us in Dance of Universal Peace and in Zikr, the most universal of Sufi practices. With simple chants and movements we experience the jewels of the divine qualities within each of us, each a blessing from the Beloved.

No experience is necessary to participate, and all are welcome.

labyrinth just outside the Youth Annex, and visit the Farmer's Market the
Plaza before or after our meeting. Come dance and sing with us.
